Season 9: Week 1 recap & stats

Week 1 is in the books and I must say it was a great start with 13+ people coming out on a horribly cold & wet day. 8 games were logged (10 played, I believe) and the stats speak for themselves. Let’s get the to the details, full stats here @ google docs.

In reverse order of fantasy value:

Andrew Jeffrey Wright, 2.5 – AJ Ready Wright was himself, maybe distracted by the upcoing SPACE1026 auction, or making art jokes. He shot only 11.8% on the day.

Marcus, 4.9 – Marcus played an active game and did a lot of good things. 6 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals while shooting 42.9% (5th best).

Jules Cornellius, 5.63 – Jules admitted that he wasn’t at full speed and will be in game shape by the new year. 12 points and 6 rebounds on the day.

Dave, 7.33 – Dave’s rookie appearance at AFBL (Dave had a great AFBL Summer league). He didn’t try and take over and left the shooting to others, mainly Nicky. 4 points, 12 rebounds, 1.2 assists/per (3rd best), and .8 steals/per (tied for 2nd best)

Paul, 7.75 – Paul came in and did a solid day’s work. 10 points, 14 rebounds (3.5 per/game 1st for the day), .8 steals/per (tied for 2nd best) only his 1.5 turnovers per game hurt him (highest on the day).

Dominic Fuscia, 8.3 – Dom put up his usual solid effort. 20 points, 14 rebounds, 52.6% shooting (best of the day), .8 steals/per (tied for 2nd best). The 1.4 turnovers/per (2nd worst) were his downfall.

John Freeborn, 8.9 – If you are looking for erratic stats, I’m your guy. 24 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 1 block seems decent. Then you see that i shot 17 3-pointers (of 26 shots) a crazy 3.4 threes per game. The next closet person was at 1.8.

John Folmar, 9.0 – John had to play with me (John Freeborn) most of the day and this may explain some of his numbers.  Still he got 13 points, 16 rebounds (3.2 rebounds/per 2nd best), 5 assists and 3 steals.

Sean Agnew, 10.13 – Sean used a great AFBL tactic, showing up late. Still he got his. 10 points on 47.4% shooting (3rd best), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals (.8 per tied for 2nd)

Nicky Santore, 10.17 – 5.7 points/per (best), 3.0 rebounds/per (3rd best), 3 steals and 3 blocks (.5/per 2nd best). Nicky stared out on fire and cooled down in later games, shooting 36.2%.

Joshua Finley, 11.7 – Another rookie putting up very solid numbers, 5.4 pts/game (2nd best, on 46.2% shooting, 4th best), 14 rebounds, 1 steal/per (best), .6 blocks/per (best). His only downside was 1.4 TOs/per (tied for 2nd worst) which I attribute to chemistry–he’ll learn what the gang can and can’t do.

Jon Hummel, 19.33 – Rookie of the day comes in and drops a tripple double. I don’t think anyone’s done that since Jason Haas. 24 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists (1.7 per 2nd best). Thrown in 4 steals and a great overall coming out party.

Andrew Jones, 23.7 – Andrew Jones is playing some basketball! After a summer on the diamond A Jones is ready to go. 26 points (5.2 per, 2nd best, also shooting a tops 36.4% from threeland & 50% 2nd best overall), 12 rebounds, 14 assists (2.8 per best), 3 steals and a block on Nicky no less. I think Andrew Jones wants that MVP award.
