|This Friday night from 5-7PM is the opening for Amy S. Kauffman’s (my wife) first major solo show. This show represents over 2 years of work and five major new projects (never seen before). The show is at the Painted Bride Art Center in old city, 230 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. I urge all of you to come out and see the spectacle. She won’t let me send images yet, but I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed. More Amy can be found at http://amyskauffman.com and Amy and I just did an artjaw.com story.
|This Friday at the International Contemporary Art Museum in Philadelphia (the ICA for you hipsters) will feature the opening reception for Locally Localized Gravity. This show is about art collectives in Philadelphia and beyond. The show is gonna be crazy packed with all these groups under one roof, so get there early. I’m using this night also as the offical release of Big Kids/Little Kids – so if you haven’t ordered one yet, come on through and buy one there.|
|A long time ago I started work on a book. Finally “Big Kids/Little Kids” will hit the streets on January 19th, 2007! The book is about the Philadelphia emerging art scene, but isn’t confined to just Philadelphia. The book features artists who have been influenced by and who have influenced the scene. The book focuses on 4 galleries (SPACE1026, 1Pixel, 222gallery, and Spector) and the artists who’ve shown in these places. There are too many great people to name them all, and you can see the full list and diagram here. (But to name drop a few: Shepard Fairey, Jim Houser, Barry McGee, Rich Jacobs, Chris Johansen, Ryan McGinness, Brian Ralph, Andrew Jeffrey Wright, and many more) So, pre-order now and get it before the stores. –> Buy Now!|
