Many moons ago I approached my collaborators at geekadelphia about doing a game. The concept was simple enough, and after months of fits and starts it is finally live to the world. Sampla: the video game music quiz. Try it out, post your score and tell your friends. Good & Green: two web hits

One website called this flash game the best game of 2007. Not just ‘web’ games, but better than Mario Galaxy, Halo 3, and others. I have to admit this game is amazing, addictive, and hard as hell. I’m still stuck on “normal”. It reminds me of Rampart, Tetris, Pipe Dream, and Missile Command all at once. Play Desktop Tower Defense here.

My co-worker and pal Brennen Lukas has been hard at work on his new blog ‘A Little Bit Greener‘. It’s all about small changes in lifestyle to make our world better. Check it out, do some good.

Being a game dork I have to applaud this effort at handheld remakes to recreate all the old handheld games online. These games are very solid playable games, so much done with so little. Above are just two of the many playable games. Some flash, some java, and some in ole director.

Video Game Honor Badges – in my hands!!!

The response to my post about the video game honor badges was surprising. People have been touched by this image, and many didn’t even know such a thing existed. One man, Brian, IMd me soon thereafter and informed me that he still had his patches, and he would bring them over so I could get a closer look. Not only did he have 6 gorgeous patches, he also had an official Activision Pitfall Pouch! Who knew such a thing could live. The bag is in great condition, his mom sewed the patches on, and they are looking good. I can’t believe this has survived in such great shape. Any one else out there have something this sweet? Brain claims he’ll sell for $1,000,000.

There are only a few things I will openly reminisce about. Video games is one of those things. Alex just IMd over this photo of the Activision honor badges. I remember this so well it hurts. You had to take a photo of tv while playing the game when you reached a set high score. Then you’d send that photo in and you’d get the patch for your geek jacket. It was such a major deal for my young nerd self. I wasn’t in boy scouts, so this is all I had.

I decided that I wanted to brave the crowds of black Friday. I had no real plan, no mission. Aside from seeing what the Apple store had on sale. Nothing much, just so you know. After that my wife and I walked around some watching the insanity. We had to park real far away from the mall at the Toys R Us. When we went back to the car Amy wanted to go in Toys R Us. I did not, and was peeved, but followed reluctantly. We wandered around the busy store, coming at last to the video game area. There was a Nintedo Wii display with a bunch of emtpy boxes. “What a tease” I said. We looked around and we spotted what looked like a tall stack of Wii boxes behind the counter. I asked if those were for sale, and YES was the answer. Within minutes, we were leaving the store (with a Wii and Zelda) feeling like we just got away with murder.
My review so far is a huge thumbs up. I can’t even explain how fun it is to swing away, bowl, bat, box, and more with this little wireless wi-mote thing. The dogs are so confused. They think we are throwing stuff and hear the noise from the wi-mote to the tv. I played about two hours of Zelda and it’s really damn sweet. I’ve already been fishing. It does start slow, but it’s a good exploratory, learning the controls kind of thing. Too much good stuff. My wife keeps making fun of my big smile. Wii Sports is awesome, the bowling is by far my favorite so far. Very true to life feeling. I’ll post more, when I’m deeper in these games.

Sampla is a backwards style name that tune game, where the game asks you to name the song that sampled a song (got that?). So, not only do you have to know your breaks, but you also have to know who used what and for which songs. Some are hard, some are easy. V1 features 35 tracks, 10 are selected at random each time you play. There is a scroreboard, so you can show and prove your skills. Graphic assistance by Josh Ruggeri. >play sampla now!!!

Everything old is new again

	Skatefall has been a big hit. From crailtap, to wired, and blogs all over the web, the response has been amazing. One major issue has now been resolved and PC users should find this minor update more friendly when going left in the game. >play skatefall now!!!
	Over the last week or so I re-listened to the first Jungle Brother’s album. It’s so good, so ahead of it’s time. I’m not 100% sure but it sounds like a Prince Paul production. Can anyone back me up on that? If you’ve never had the pleasure of this record, do so. ->buy it from someone

Lux, and my first Lux map – Philadelphia

Those of you that know me, know that I have a wee bit of a video game addiction. One of my more recent outlets has been Lux, by SillySoft. This is a turn based game in the mode of Risk, but it’s fully customizable and supports a strong online community. There is a ranking system and it’s a damn fine game. I just made my first map, Philadelphia, and it is also Luxtoberfest, so it’s time to go to war. See you there.
