Double Negative #14

Double Negative #14
Double Negative
# 14
by Jeff Wiesner
This is probably one of my favorite issues of Double Negative. The cover by Gustavo Vargas is great, interviews with Michiko Stehrenberger and Mark Reusch, and then other good things to boot. This issue is completely offset printed, but still maintains a zine feel. Very clean and well made. Contributions by: Art – Gustavo Vargas, Josh Hinchey, Suzi Tegelaar, Mark Reusch, Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Rick Barnes, Brian Chippendale, and Brian Ralph, Writing – Jeremy Beaudry, Rick Feltes, Michelle Zaffino, Photography – Chris McKenna and Shoshanna Wiesner.

Balance represents skateboarding in it’s purest form. Skating, traveling to skate, and more skateboarding. Backyard ramps, pools. parks, it’s all here. Lots of photos, and good ones. This zine is layed out on a computer, and the pics are halftoned. It’s very clean and well put together, a very solid read. Article about Alex Baker.

This is a short raw little zine by Griffin. Griffin, where ever he may be, is a good guy who worked in a corporate copy room somewhere. He’d copy your zine, if he liked it, and fedex it back to you. Amazing service, free of charge. This zine has work by Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Joshua Hinchey and Griffin’s photos (I think).

by Hiroshima Lemon (aka – Jesse and Ian)
Kime Agime #2 is #1 and #2 bundled together for one fat issue. Comics and funny drawings fill the pages. I like that fact they they just re-issued #1 by placing it around #2 and hitting go on the copy machine. Cover is color copied, insides are black and white.

by Joe Lyons
Skateboarding in Kansas. How raw and real can it get. Zines, some skate people, ads, music, and anti-rollerblading. This issue is all over the place. But I still like Joe. I like the tagline – “Jump Skate Zine, Designed to fail.”
