I don’t work at AoPS anymore…

By the time this post goes live, my talk will be over. I should have mentioned this to you all in last week’s post, but with everything going on in my life, that didn’t happen. I’m excited to give my talk, ‘How Not to Apply for a Design Job’ with UXDX’s The UX of Career Building: Failing Forward in Tech. I’ve continued to fine-tune the content, and I’m hoping it goes as well (or better) than last year. Coming soon, hopefully by next week, I’ll be sharing a new effort. I want to give my time to the designers who are looking for work. The current job market is maddening, and I’ll be offering resume, portfolio, and mock interviews for designers who would like a fresh set of eyes on their pitch. I set up a list, if you’d like to get first dibs on this.

On How Long it Takes to Know if a Job is Right for You or Not
Every job I’ve ever taken, I knew within the first week whether it was right for me or not. That might be overstating things a bit (memory can be like that). But I definitely had a strong visceral reaction to the company within days after starting…
