New is exciting and fun. When you are on the path to newness, every bump, turn, u-turn, and pit stop is an adventure. After it’s not new anymore, it’s repetitive and boring. It’s much harder to get going on the second attempt.
Every drop counts… I know.

“The gravest error a thinking person can make is to believe that one particular version of history is absolute fact. History is recorded by a series of observers, none of whom is impartial. The facts are distorted by sheer passage of time and thousands of years of humanity’s dark ages, deliberate misrepresentations by religious sects, and the inevitable corruption that comes from an accumulation of careless mistakes. The wise person, then, views history as a set of lessons to be learned, choices and ramifications to be considered and discussed, and mistakes that should never again be made.”
Brian Herbert, The Battle of Corrin
I learned to draw late in high school. It didn’t come naturally to me. I had to work really hard at it. Here are two still-life drawings from the way back machine. On the left, trying for realism. On the right, getting weird.
I always liked cubism. I tried that back then too.
Phase 002, is there. It’s something. Let’s try and make three real now. Cool, see you then.

The Skate Book Club is live. We sent out the first issue (it’s an email newsletter). Sign up if you like skateboarding, books, or both.
I should mention this too. On Nov. 12th, I’ll be speaking to strangers. Presented by SDXD, my talk, ‘How NOT to Apply For a Design Job’ is Star Wars themed, and stems from my real-world experience in hiring designers. If you are in the San Diego area, come through.
