This post is several weeks behind schedule. In the words of Kurt Vonnegut, “So it goes.” I try to get stuff done on a schedule, but I don’t get crazy about it. Most of these deadlines are self-imposed. It’s important for me to balance my desire to get shit done (dreams) and what I actually need to get done (reality). In the end, I’m happy if there’s progress. Can I point to progress on the projects that mean something to me? It’s nice when other people take notice, but you can’t count on that–ever.
A new idea for dirty, recycled water signage

This has been rolling around in my head for way too long. In California, it’s super common to see signs like the one above (right). Recycled water is used everywhere to water grass, bushes, etc. All of these signs hurt my designer mind and I kept thinking that there must be a better way to communicate this information. There are so many words, mismatched iconography, and odd color choices. I wanted to created something more symobolic, easier to digest without language, and memorable. I don’t know if I solved it–maybe my design is childish. I do think it’s more direct and memorable.
