I’m pretty good at turning my brain off when I need to. Video games, shooting a basketball, or even a long walk can all be a pathway to clearing my mind. Sometimes I will just take a deep breath, but usually, I need a little more. Something physical or some mentally engaging activity (video games) that doesn’t leave space for me to think of other things. The brain never stops, but you can guide it to other places. I know what you are asking yourself, ‘What about sleep?’ Sleep has never been my first choice.
