Weekly Design Links – 09/01/26

The hard way isn’t sexy, efficient, easy to sell, or even useful. But a lot of the best work comes from someone bullheaded enough to put in the time and make it just so. In a world built on optimization, that’s not something we try to emulate. We treat it as an oddity, something to gawk at. They must be crazy to do that. Crazy is the easiest explanation.

If you’ve been here, deep inside the creative wormhole, you know it isn’t a choice.

Architecture

Rouxinol House / Sergio Sampaio Archi + Tectônica

The 2,000-square-meter site of Rouxinol House, located in the Paraíba Valley in São Paulo, presented significant challenges in defining the architectural design. While it offered magnificent views of the Jaguari River reservoir, the design also had to address a 50-meter slope and the presence of over 300 surveyed trees. Minimizing environmental impact was non-negotiable—a combination of factors that determined the design decisions from the initial concept to the specification of materials.

We used to log off

Online used to be a place you could leave. We designed the exit out of it because an exit reads as a leak. Here is why building it back is a design responsibility, and what that means now that AI is dissolving the last seam.
